About Morris, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The city of Morris is located in Grundy County, Illinois along the Illinois River approximately sixty miles southwest of Chicago.  First settled in 1834 and established in 1842, Morris later became the county seat for Grundy in 1845.  The opening of the I&M Canal in 1848 and the arrival of the railroad in 1853 brought significant growth to the city, which today has a population of more than 13,000 residents.  The city falls in the humid continental climate zone of the U.S., which brings hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters with beautiful, mild weather during springtime and fall.

Morris boasts a thriving and historically intact downtown district that draws visitors and shoppers from all over the state and beyond.  The Grundy County Historical Society and Museum houses a remarkable collection of civil war artifacts, quilts from the 19th and early 20th centuries, and local historical items of interest.  The city features a self-guided walking tour of its historic downtown that includes twenty-one buildings from its early history.  More than thirty homes dating from the mid 1800s to early 1900s are included in the Heritage Homes project that is dedicated to the identification and preservation of historic residences in and around the city.

The Morris Parks and Recreation Department oversees the operation and maintenance of nine city parks that include baseball, softball, and soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts, a swimming pool, and numerous playgrounds and open areas.  The Gebhard Woods State Park and the William G. Stratton State Park feature boat ramps for boating access to the Illinois River and offer access to the Illinois & Michigan Canal State Trail as well, for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling.

The Morris Country Club and Nettle Creek Country Club offer excellent golfing choices for local and visiting golfers.  Morris Country Club is a private golfing facility well known for its unique course layout that features fast putting surfaces and small greens that put a premium on the short game.  Nettle Creek Country Club is a public course that is ranked in the top thirty-five courses in Chicagoland.

It is easy to see why Morris is a popular destination for visitors and a city many love to call home!
