The city of Crest Hill is located in Will County, Illinois approximately thirty-five miles southwest of the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Crest Hill is located in the U. S. humid continental climate zone and features beautiful, seasonal weather that includes hot humid summers, cold snowy winters, and mild springtime and fall weather for the enjoyment of its visitors and more than 20,000 residents of the city.
Crest Hill is served by the Lockport Township Park District that maintains ten municipal parks within the city, including Brent Hassert Park, which features seven soccer fields and a playground on eighty acres, and Richland Park that features in-line skating, picnic facilities, and a municipal swimming pool.
The city's Lidice Memorial was erected in honor of Crest Hills sister city, Lidice, Czechoslovakia, which was wiped out on June 9, 1942 on order of Adolf Hitler. Local developer Dominic Romano changed the name of the Crest Hills development of Stern Hills to Lidice to honor the memory of the citizens who lost their lives there. The city also maintains the Crest Hill Veterans Memorial Garden located adjacent to City Hall that features a lush garden with marble markers that contain the names of residents who have served in various wars throughout history, as well as local police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
