Addison is a village located in DuPage County, Illinois on Salt Creek approximately twenty miles northwest of the city of Chicago. Named after 18th century poet, playwright, and author Joseph Addison, the village today has a population of more than 36,000 residents and prides itself on being a business friendly community with a large manufacturing and industrial base. The Addison Elementary School District 4 and DuPage High School District 88 provide excellent educational opportunities for the youth of the community. History is important to the Village of Addison. The Addison Historical Commission is charged with overseeing the safekeeping of historical artifacts, memorials, and structures. The Addison Historical District includes the properties of St. Paul Lutheran Church, circa 1906, and the Addison Century House, circa 1893. The Addison Historical Museum is also a part of the Historical District.
The Addison Park District consists of twenty-five parks covering more than 290 acres that include two recreation centers, an outdoor Family Aquatic Center, Club Fitness, the Addison Senior Center, and the award-winning Links & Tees Golf Course. The Illinois Association of Park Districts & the Illinois Park & Recreation Association honored the Addison Park District with the Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency award, given to outstanding park districts that provide high quality programs and services to their communities.
