About Lyons, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The Village of Lyons is located in Cook County, Illinois approximately fourteen miles southwest of the city of Chicago.  Lyons early history goes back as far as 1673 when French Explorer Louis Joliet and Jesuit missionary Father Pierre Marquette explored the area and made the discovery of "Le Portage" for which they later became famous.  In the late 1820s, David and Bernardus Laughton established a trading post near the point of convergence of the Salt Creek and Des Plaines River.  The village became incorporated in 1888 and today boasts a population of more than 10,000 residents.  With its location in the humid continental climate zone, Lyons enjoys hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters with beautiful, mild weather in springtime and fall.  No matter what the season, Lyons is lovely any time of the year!

The Chicago Portage National Historic Site is located in Lyons in the Portage Woods and Ottawa Trail Woods Forest Preserves.  The city of Chicago owes its existence to the discovery of the portage by French explorers Pere Jacques Marquette and Louis Jolliet in 1673.  The portage provided easy access between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean by linking Lake Michigan and the Mississippi River.

Hoffman Tower was constructed by George Hofmann, Jr. on the banks of the Des Plaines River in 1908 to serve as a recreational and entertainment complex for games, contests, concerts, and dancing for local area residents.  It became listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

For family fun and entertainment, the Cermak Family Aquatic Center features a large pool with a tunnel slide, a lazy river, splash pad with a toddler slide, and other assorted water play features.
