The Village of Romeoville is located in Will County, Illinois on the Des Plaines River approximately thirty miles southwest of the city of Chicago.  The village was incorporated in 1895 and, by 1929, the number of residents in the community had grown to 200.  From 1957 to 1971, the population increased from approximately 3,500 to over 15,000 and is more than double that number today, with a population of 36,000 plus and growing.  The village is in the humid continental climate zone and enjoys hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters, with beautiful, mild weather during springtime and fall!

The Romeoville Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of twenty-nine parks including Volunteer Park situated on forty-two acres and featuring baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, trails for walking, hiking, and biking, picnic facilities, a skate park, splash pad, and Frisbee golf.  O'Hara Woods and Nature Preserve is a sixty-acre nature park and outdoor area that features fishing, picnicking, horseshoes, multi-use trails, and playground, as well as indoor and outdoor rentals of facilities and equipment.

The Romeoville Recreation Department is a state-of-the-art facility that features an impressive number of diversified programs for all ages.  The center consists of a gymnasium, aerobics studio, jungle safari playground, performing arts studio, the Fit 4 Life Fitness Center, an art adventure room, and several multi-purpose rooms.
